Where's the best place to put Spotter?
Place Spotter in a central and open area so that it can acquire an accurate reading of the environment.
Can I control how many notifications I receive?
Through the Wink app, you can turn sensors on and off, set unlimited alerts associated with any sensor, set preferences for notifications, and connect sensors to Wink Robots, which are tied to the actions of other devices.
I ordered a Spotter v2. Why does the box say "UNIQ?"
Don't worry, you're getting the right product! Spotter v2 is an extension of the Spotter UNIQ product family. Both v2 and UNIQ are made in our microfactory in San Francisco, CA.
Does Spotter run on batteries?
Not at this time. Spotter includes a 6’ Micro-USB to USB cable with power adapter.
How do I mount Spotter?
Spotter has a magnetic back cover, so you can mount it to most metal surfaces. Spotter also includes double-sided adhesive and screws, so you can mount it on many other surfaces.
How do I reset Spotter?
Twist the back cover counterclockwise to open the unit. The reset button will be visible. Press and hold the button for about 10 seconds.
How do I connect Spotter to a different Wi-Fi network?
Twist the back cover counterclockwise to open the unit. The reset button will be visible. Press and hold the button for about 10 seconds. Resetting Spotter will erase all account details and restart. Then open the Wink app and tap "Add a product." Follow the onscreen instructions to add Spotter to the new Wi-Fi network.
Do I need a hub to connect my Spotter to?
No hub is required. Spotter connects directly to your home Wi-fi network.
What does the passive infrared sensor do?
The passive infrared sensor detects movement within the sensor's field of view. You can receive alerts when movement is sensed, and Trigger smart products to react to its detections. Refer to the info card included with your Spotter for a diagram of the motion-sensing range.
What does the vibration sensor do?
The vibration sensor detects the physical movement of Spotter. You can trigger the vibration sensor by slightly shaking Spotter or tapping it.
What does the smart button do?
You can program the smart button using the Wink app. It can be synced with products in your connected home to make them go on/off, or trigger a series of programmed actions.
What does the light sensor do?
The light sensor detects changes in the ambient light level.

Using Wink
Plug In
Plug the AC adapter into an outlet, then insert the MicroUSB cable into Spotter.
Sign Up
Open the Wink app on your mobile device and log in with your email address and password. If this is your first time using the Wink app, tap Sign Up to create an account.
Add a Product
In the Wink app, choose "Add a Product," then "Sensors," then "Spotter Multipurpose Sensor (2nd Gen)."
Choose Wi-Fi Network for iOS
For iOS users only, go to your iOS settings and choose the network "Quirky_Spotter-xxxx."
Follow App Instructions
Follow the instructions on the Wink app. When the Wink app displays “success,” your device is connected.
