This individual has built highly dynamic, interactive interfaces for web sites that have broad consumer appeal and a thriving user community. He/she has a strong background in CSS, Javascript, DOM, and DHTML, and extensive experience with cross-browser compatibility issues and degradation strategies. Also, experience with a web scripting language like PHP is required.

Responsibilities:

We're looking for an experienced software engineer to lead the development of the web server applications at wink.com. This individual must have a strong background developing scalable, dynamic, data-driven, and consumer-facing web applications. This person must also have experience working with cross-functional teams including web developers, UI designers, and product managers.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of our web server applications, ensuring scalability, performance, and robustness.
  • Participate in a small, highly experienced, energetic team on a rapid development schedule.
  • Work with team members to define integration strategies for the web front end, application platform, and back end services.
  • Act as a technical resource for technologies including PHP, Java, Apache, web services, databases, and XML-based standards.
  • Deliver complete, thoroughly-tested projects on a tight schedule.

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of experience developing dynamic, scalable, data-driven, and consumer-facing web applications.
  • 7+ years of experience with C++ or Java in a Unix/Linux environment.

Search Engine Developer

We are looking for an experienced web search engine developer to work with a small team to develop the next generation of search engine. The individual must have a strong programming background and be comfortable with working with large datasets and numerical methods. Senior Operations Engineer

We need you to help us take Wink's online service to the next level. You'll work in our engineering team, helping to design and deploy our production software and hardware infrastructure. Our next generation service is going to scale up big, and we want to automate the install, configuration, and maintenance of our Linux cluster as much as possible. We're not looking to hire a sysadmin -- we're looking to hire someone to automate almost all system administration tasks. We care about results, and will give you a lot of freedom in how you do your job as long as you deliver.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deploy scripts to automate all routine tasks in our production service, such as machine installs, server configuration, building and deploying new software, and backups.
  • Configure and maintain a monitoring and alerting solution, such as Nagios, that will keep tabs on our network, machines, and server applications.
  • Work with other engineers to ensure that our production service is designed to be as highly available and fault-tolerant as practical.
  • Take primary responsibility for keeping our production service running well, including sharing the pager.
  • Participate in service capacity planning, vendor selection, and ordering new equipment, and installing new equipment in our colocation facilities.

Requirements:

  • Proficiency in one or more scripting languages, such as Perl, Python, or shell scripting.
  • Attention to detail; making sure that your scripts "just work".
  • Demonstrated success automating system administration tasks, preferrably on Linux.
  • 4+ years of experience as an operations engineer or Unix/Linux system administrator.
  • Experience using a version control system, such as Subversion or Perforce.
  • Experience with network, machine, and server application monitoring a plus.
  • Experience running a highly available public web service is a plus.
  • Familiarity with HTTP load balancing and fail-over, firewall configuration, and MySQL database replication are all desirable.
  • Ability to work independently and achieve goals with minimal direction or supervision
