Born & bred in the hills of western North Carolina, Matthew was instilled with a deep appreciation for the folk, gospel, and bluegrass music of the Appalachian mountains. These elements and more help make up his unique brand of musical storytelling, underscored by strong vocals and easy-to-listen-to acoustic guitar.

When he moved to Nevada in 2004, Mathew knew he'd found a home in the West. He now lives in San Diego and is active in the vibrant music scene there, hosting & booking a weekly artist showcase at the East Village coffeehouse Java Jones as well as playing locally whenever his schedule allows.
