Timothy Johnson is the Director of Workforce Development Initiatives at the United Way of New York City (UWNYC). Mr. Johnson manages the day-to-day workforce development activities of UWNYC, focusing on NYCWorks, a $20 million workforce development initiative of the New York City Council, administered by UWNYC. He has extensive workforce development and program management experience, having managed several grants and contracted partnerships between government agencies, non-profit organizations and businesses throughout New York. Prior to joining UWNYC, he worked for over nine years at the NYC Department of Employment as a Program Manager in the areas of workforce and community development, especially with the out of school youth and the adult populations. He also served for the NYC Workforce Investment Board as the Grants Manager and with the NYC Department of Small Business Services as a Senior Account Manager charged with managing the Agency's relationships with relevant industry stakeholders - including businesses, business associations, community-based organizations, elected officials and other NYC agents working on issues of economic and workforce development. Timothy was just recently selected to participate in Public Private Venture’s 2007 Workforce Leaders Academy, a peer-learning community engaging executive and senior practitioners who are advancing the workforce development field in New York City. He was also a 2006 recipient of the Harlem YMCA's Black Achiever in Industry award and the 2006 Streetwise Partners Community Vision award for his contributions both professionally and in his community. He holds a Bachelors of Science in Biology from NCCU & is currently a graduate student at the Robert J. Milano School of Urban Policy and Management at the New School University. Timothy resides in Brooklyn and enjoys practicing further community service and philanthropic pursuits through his memberships as a proud Prince Hall Freemason and Shriner.
