Tim has P&L responsiblity for International Investment Conferences, which produces mining investment networking events. He came into the position thanks to a blend of experience in the media and mining industries. He gained a working knowledge of the mining industry and commercial Internet applications after a stint at the Chamber of Mines of South Africa as a public policy analyst and assistant to the CEO. He moved into the media world as the first Internet Editor for the Sunday Times, South Africa's largest circulation weekly newspaper at the time. He went on to be founding editor of a number of publications including ResourceInvestor.com, Broadband.co.za and netAssets.co.za. He was also a founding director of Moneyweb, a publicly traded media dot.com based in South Africa. That is where Tim and his family emigrated from in 2000 after winning the U.S. Green Card Lottery. Tim has a graduate degree in International Relations for which he received the Jan Smuts Prize, and a Diploma in Business Administration from Wits University, Johannesburg. He read for the degrees after completing compulsory military service that included a tour on the Namibian-Angolan border just prior to the cessation of the war. Complementing his focus on mining finance and investment writing, Tim also has numerous investigative credits to his name. These include uncovering secret audits of the UN Oil for Food Programme, and documenting a secret visit to South Africa by North Korean officials.
