As an Employment Counselor at the YWCA I advise and train jobseekers, from interview techniques, resume design, to networking and job retention. I have done this both on a one to one basis and as part of team that designs and facilitates employment workshops. Directly I have assisted dozens of clients, from professional immigrants to new graduates. More recently my role has been expanded, allowing me to contact employers directly on behalf of our clients. Working closely with their recruiting needs and matching them with the right clients. I can see how a company’s marketing message and the creation of a strong brand image play a crucial role in recruiting and retaining. And how this consistent message both internally and externally helps to improve retention as well as facilitate recruiting.
