I like to BUILD STUFF! From my time in the Navy, I have seen ships ripped apart and reassembled and watch 30 tons units be glued to the sides of aircraft carriers with wonder. When finished, I took pleasure in listening to an efficient mechanical humm that gleamed with machinery grey paint (still my favorite color). My life then moved me from heavy industry into the realm of software and identity engineering. Working at the Naval Sea Systems Command, I was the PM for a number of machinery related software programs. These included life-cycle engineer for the Arleigh Burke destroyer class, the Integrated Condition Assessment System (ICAS), the Damage Control System (DCS), and I participated in the SMARTSHIP conversions of the USS Yorktown as well as a number of 'smart' controls upgrades on 10+ other ships. In 1997, I discovered smartcards and identity management. I was the Navy SMARTCARD MANAGER in the late 1990's, then moved to DMDC and became Chief, Smartcard Programs for the Department of Defense. In April 2007, I moved to the General Services Administration to become the PM of GSA's Managed Service Office (MSO) that is tasked with issuing credentials to 800K+ government civilians and contractors.
