English teacher Mark Odougherty has been affiliated with several North Carolina institutions. Mark Odougherty’s experiences in several school districts were all very different but equally gratifying. Certified by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, Mark Odougherty is experienced in teaching English to all high school grade levels. A participant in The Writing Project at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Mark Odougherty emphasizes a flexible approach to writing assignments and literary studies and often enriches his curricula with college-level resources. As a result, Mark Odougherty’s students have returned test scores a full fifth better than average and have achieved 100% pass rates on end-of-course examinations. Mark Odougherty is the bearer of a BS in Public Relations/Communications and worked a 40-hour job while enrolled as a full-time student. After graduation, Mark Odougherty went on to a position as a Sales Supervisor , then took on a role as a District Sales Manager. Demonstrating his diligence and flexibility, Mark Odougherty excelled in several capacities, including client relations, staff and human resources management, and strategic planning. After several years in the business world, Mark Odougherty went back to school to earn his Masters in Teaching English with a concentration in Language Arts at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Mark Odougherty’s favorite authors include Shakespeare, the poets Maya Angelou and Robert Frost, and the novelists Joseph Conrad and Ernest Hemingway. In his free time, Mark Odougherty enjoys fishing and cycling, as well as a number of spectator sports.
