Mr. Boyd has chief responsibility for the day-to-day investment operations of the firm which includes management of a long-short hedge fund as well as overseeing private equity investments of the firm. Mr. Boyd has over fifteen years experience as both an investor and as a founder or investor in technology startups. All three of the technology startups Mr. Boyd has joined or founded have achieved highly successful exits. Mr. Boyd worked as Director at TL Ventures covering investments in internet, mobility, software, and communications. As a venture investor, Mr. Boyd worked with over 20 companies across multiple technology sectors and geographies in Boston, Austin, and California. Mr. Boyd has served on the Board of several technology companies including Factory Logic (acquired by SAP), eRealty (sold to Prudential), Coriolis Networks, and several other companies in communications, internet, manufacturing supply chain areas. Mr. Boyd's first startup was Omnipoint Corporation, now T-Mobile, a pioneer in spread spectrum technology and one of the most successful wireless service operators launched in the U.S. Mr. Boyd was also founder and President of BCN Communications which acquired and developed Cellular PCS licenses for the Philadelphia, Maryland and New Jersey markets and later sold the company to T-Mobile for over $155 Million in enterprise value in 2001 on $15 million in raised capital. Mr. Boyd also worked on the startup team for for WNP Communications, a last-mile wireless broadband provider to the business market that was sold to Craig McCaw's XO Communications for over $600 million. As a strong believer in the importance of public service, Mr. Boyd spent several years in the Trade Office of the White House supporting U.S. trade negotiations for the U.S. Uruguay Round, and NAFTA negotiations. Mr. Boyd also worked as an international economist covering competitiveness issues in the auto, aircraft, textile and steel industries.
