While Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Entergy Corporation, C. John Wilder stimulated improvements that resulted in annualized returns exceeding those of the S&P 500 by 18-fold. Specifically, shareholder value was built up to the point that total shareholder returns of 147% were seen, compared to returns of 26% for the S&P Electric Index (SPELEC) and 8% for the S&P 500. The results strengthened the overall perception of Entergy to a top-decile ranking, as documented by independent opinion research. Profitability and returns were improved as operational earnings grew 63% to $900 million with year-over-year EPS growth of over 19%.
